THE ACCOUNTING SOCIETY is an organization devoted to developing students for careers in accounting. It's objectives include enhancement of student leadership potential and professional and academic excellence. Members participate in a variety of volunteer and service activities at VCU and in the community. Practicing CPAs and other accounting professionals from the Richmond area participate in many of these activities. Membership in The Accounting Society is open to all accounting majors. The faculty advisor for is Dr. Roxanne Spindle.
The AMERICAN MARKETING ASSOCIATION at VCU, is the student chapter of the national AMA organization for marketing professionals. The organization offers students the opportunity to obtain practical experience in marketing through university, civic, and professional projects. Marketing professionals are invited to chapter meetings to discuss current practices and to provide career information. Members participate in the International Collegiate Conference and competition. The faculty advisor is Dr. Frank Franzak.

The ASSOCIATION OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONALS (AITP) is a national organization of professionals in the information systems field. The VCU student chapter fosters career growth through regular meetings, workshops, and educational seminars. Meetings feature information systems professionals speaking on such topics as new technologies, information systems management issues, and careers in information systems. The professional Richmond chapter of AITP sponsors the student chapter at VCU, and student members may participate in Richmond chapter activities. Membership is open to all students interested in careers in information systems or related areas. The faculty advisor is Mr. Jeff May.


BETA ALPHA PSI is an international honors organization. The Epsilon Zeta Chapter
of Beta Alpha Psi at VCU has performed outstandingly over the years and has been
granted 30 consecutive years of “superior” chapter status by the National Office.

Our VCU chapter has 35-45 student members each year. The chapter holds ten
professional meetings with guest speakers who discussed topics relevant to all aspects of
accounting and application of technology in business. Epsilon Zeta also has two
luncheons where members are initiated and alumni and other professional gathered to
visit with members and faculty. There are socials throughout the year and various
community service projects in which the members participate. The faculty advisor for is Dr. Roxanne Spindle.


BETA GAMMA SIGMA encourages and honors high academic achievement and personal excellence in the study and practice of business. Membership is the highest national recognition that can be bestowed upon a student in a business school accredited by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business. To be eligible for membership, a student must rank in the upper 7 percent of the junior class or upper 10 percent of the senior class. The faculty advisor is Dr. Charles M. Byles


BLACK DATA PROCESSING ASSOCIATES exists to promote the professional development of all students, especially minorities, in the field of information technology through interaction with industry professionals, area businesses and community outreach.
DELTA EPSILON CHI is a college division of DECA. It is an international association of students studying management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, and marketing sales and service. Delta Epsilon Chi connects students with an expanded network of people who share similar interests. Through DECA students have the chance to travel, meet life-long friends, network with business and industry professionals, as well as receive awards and recognition through state and national competition. DECA provides a natural outlet for leadership, competition, career development and community service. The faculty advisor is Donna Reamy.
DELTA SIGMA PI is a professional fraternity that contributes to the development of students in all disciplines of business. Members participate in a variety of professional and service activities. Leaders from the business community are invited to speak at chapter meetings. Several plant tours and site visits are arranged each semester. Membership is by invitation to all business students who have demonstrated an interest in active participation in chapter activities. The faculty advisor is Ms. Linda Pontius.
The FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION is an international organization of finance professionals, mainly in academic organizations. The student chapters are affiliates. Each chapter has a program of activities during the academic year including speakers, field trips, working trips, a phone-a-thon to raise funds, and other projects. For the 2001-2002 academic year, this chapter was recognized as a "Superior Chapter," a distinction shared with only seventeen other chapters out of over 200 chapters in the world.  The faculty advisor is
FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA-- The purpose of FBLA-PBL is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. Phi Beta Lambda is the collegiate division of the nationaol association. The local FBLA-PBL chapter offers its members scholarships, networking, competitive conferences, socials, guest speakers from both VCU and local businesses. The faculty advisor is Maureen Carley.

GAMMA IOTA SIGMA is a national fraternity organized to promote and encourage interest in insurance, risk management, financial planning, employee benefits, safety and other related professions. The fraternity facilitates the interaction and cooperation between professionals and students through social activities, professional breakfast and luncheon meetings and other exciting and informative events.  Students have opportunities for thousands of dollars in local and national scholarship awards and trips to national conferences.  The chapter is open to students in all majors.  Website link. The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BLACK ACCOUNTANTS is an organization that promotes and develops the professional skills of members, encourages and assists minority students in entering the business profession, and provides opportunities for members to fulfill their civic responsibility. The professional Richmond chapter of NABA sponsors the student chapter at VCU; student members may participate in activities with both the Richmond chapter as well as the national organization. Membership is open to all students interested in careers in business. The faculty advisor is Dr. Annie Stith-Willis.
RHO EPSILON is the national fraternity for individuals interested in the real estate profession. The local chapter, selected twice as the outstanding chapter in the United States, promotes communication between real estate professionals and students through chapter meetings, speaker programs, and involvement in real estate projects. The chapter annually makes awards for outstanding residential community and commercial development in the Richmond area. Membership in Rho Epsilon is open to all students who are currently enrolled in or have completed at least one real estate course at VCU. The faculty advisor is Dr. Brent Smith.
The SOCIETY FOR ADVANCEMENT OF MANAGEMENT (SAM) is a professional organization that expands and enhances the management skills of members. The VCU chapter offers monthly meetings, professional contacts, guest speakers, social events, and conferences. SAM is a business organization that is open to all VCU Students. The faculty advisor is Dr. Ibrahim Kurtulus.
The SOCIETY FOR HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (SHRM) acquaints students with the work of professionals in human resource management. Each month SHRM provides activities designed to relate classroom experience to the business world. The student chapter of SHRM is supported by a 500 member local chapter that is comprised of human resource professionals in the Richmond area. As a national organization, SHRM represents the largest professional association to date. Membership is open to all students who demonstrate interest in human resource management.  the faculty advisor is Dr. Marianne Miller.
The STUDENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE consists of the presidents of all business student organizations. This committee serves in an advisory capacity to the dean's office.
