Dr. Neil B. Murphy, professor of finance,
taught a teleconference workshop to Ethiopian bankers. Dr. Murphy was selected by the U.S. Treasury Department to advise the bankers on international best practices of bank management, such as managing cash flows, implementing resources for track funds and making provisions for any likely occurrences.

“Six teachers honored for economics training” in Richmond Times-Dispatch

Dr. Pamela Kiecker, Marketing and Business Law.

Dr. Kiecker has been honored with two commendations from the Society of International Business Fellows for her work as a facilitator in Turkey with the Central Eurasian Leadership Alliance's (CELA) inaugural executive leadership program for future leaders. The "Spirit of SIBF" Award reflects Dr. Kiecker's sessions focusing on different leadership styles and her innovative work with three women leaders from former USSR countries.

November 2
“Outlook for retail muddied” by Greg Gilligan, Richmond Times Dispatch, reviews Business Outlook Breakfast sponsored by Retail Merchants Association of Greater Richmond. As a panelist, Dr. Kiecker gave a positive view of the holiday season and said “consumers often say one thing on surveys and do something else when they go shopping. It will be up to the retailer to give consumers a good season to come out and shop.”
