A team of VCU students is competing in the CFA Virginia Investment Research Challenge on April 10. The challenge is a stock research and analysis competition coordinated by CFA Institute (www.cfainstitute.org). University student teams are asked to analyze a company, write a report, and give an oral presentation in front of a panel of investment professionals. For the 2008 competition, the Virginia teams are analyzing Owens & Minor (ticker OMI), a Richmond-based distributor of medical and surgical products.
Winners of the Virginia competition will receive a scholarship to cover the cost of one level of the Chartered Financial Analyst exam, sponsored by CFA Institute, and they will advance to the North American regional competition in New York.
Best of luck to our VCU team members, undergraduate students Joseph Grim, Estaban Guiterrez, Tracy Bristow, David Sutherland and Ian Bennett. The VCU team is working under the guidance of professor David Upton, CFA, and mentor Paul Carder, CFA with Evergreen Investments. |
