DR. TRANI PRESENTS IBCP CERTIFICATES

Dr. Eugene Trani presented the certificates to participants in the VCU International Business Certificate Program that concluded in November. “It is one of VCU’s most prestigious educational offerings that bring our business community together with our best and brightest graduate students to study global commerce,” Trani said. The program is now in its eighth year, and has certified and educated over 250 individuals in the nuances and complexities of international business.

The participants came from Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Colombia, India, Puerto Rico and the USA. They speak: Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, French, Chinese, Bulgarian, and Russian.

International business touches many companies. This year’s participants were drawn from a variety of industries including accounting and taxation, finance, banking, pharmaceuticals, transportation, education, Six Sigma, and business process transformation. Also from chemical, software and environmental engineering, business development, public policy, ISO, utilities (power), information technology, plastics, industrial water and wastewater treatment, sales, marketing, media, event planning, data warehousing and development, automotive, imports, and telecommunications. Dr. Van Wood and George L. Hiller, J. D. were the program’s leaders. Dr. Wood started the program in 1997-1998 at the request of Dr. Trani. “Its intent is to give participants a practical broad-based view of what it takes to be successful in international business. It also covers the realities of ‘globalization’ and what it means to our societies”.
