Mission Statement of the
MKTG Department
The mission of the VCU Department of Marketing is to provide relevant
education of high quality to our students, and to contribute to the creation
of marketing knowledge. This mission requires our faculty to have strong
commitments and skills regarding scholarship--the discovery, integration,
and dissemination of knowledge--and service. Our scholarship and service
address the professional needs of students; other university personnel;
alumni; managers of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations; and
marketing scholars.
Our guiding principles and programs emphasize:
- striving for excellence in everything that we do;
- supporting and continually developing our faculty and staff members
to enhance their morale, effectiveness, and productivity;
- promoting interactions among faculty, students, and the professional
community;
- being learning-driven, engaged in continuous adaptation and
innovation regarding all aspects of scholarship;
- appreciating a global perspective;
- understanding the need for ethical behavior and social
responsibility; and
- developing a distinctive signature for our scholarship efforts.
