Advantage of an Internship
Students who take advantage of an internship while
pursuing their education have the unique opportunity to blend their academic
knowledge with 'real world' experience. Internships not only make students
more marketable; they also provide that student with references,
professional experience on their resume, hands on familiarity with issues in
their field of study, and exposure to leadership with years of professional
experience.
Our students have served in internships in the
private, public, and non-profit sector. They have worked in fashion, sales,
advertising, management, media, retailing, business administration, banks,
medicine, and a variety of non-profit and governmental organizations. These
students have used their experience to launch them into their careers and
many have connected to their first entry level job as a result of their
internship.
Although the MKTG department does not offer course
credit for internships, we encourage students to pursue internship
opportunities that effectively compliment their academic and professional
goals.
