Global Scholar General Information

The Global Scholar Program in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University is designed to enable undergraduate students with leadership capability to refine inherent talents and obtain new skills to prepare them to become effective leaders in an ever-changing business environment. A group of approximately 30 outstanding students will be placed in an entering cohort. A portion of the coursework will be in special sections designated for the Global Scholar cohort while the remainder of the courses will be selected from classes offered to the general student population.

The VCU Global Scholar in Business Program will

Match each student with a mentor from the corporate community.

Work with each student to obtain an internship opportunity or relationship with an external corporate entity.

Work with each student to assure that they have an individualized international experience that will be appropriate for them and their course of study.

Allow students to select any major and track within the School of Business and encourage participation in other academic offerings such as the VCU Honors program; the Certificate in International Management Studies; or a minor in International Studies, Latin American Area Studies, Russian Area Studies, Economics or a foreign language.

Provide flexibility so students entering with university level credit can complete the program in less than four years in order that they may pursue employment, an MBA or other education.

Provide opportunities for scholarships for tuition and study abroad.

The director of the VCU Global Scholar in Business Program is Dr. Robert Andrews. He has a long history of working with international students and has worked in France for four years of his professional life.
