Graduate Certificate in Real Estate and Urban Land Development

The Graduate Certificate in Real Estate and Urban Land Development is designed for seasoned professionals who seek an opportunity for advanced study in real estate and are more interested in the focused knowledge obtainable than receipt of a graduate degree. The certificate provides students the ability to advance their careers while receiving recognition of their academic accomplishment in the form of a graduate certificate. Many working professionals, especially those with undergraduate majors in Liberal Arts, will find this program attractive since they can concentrate their energies on a tightly focused curriculum without enrolling in a large number of prerequisite courses.

Applicants must have an earned baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university. Other admission requirements include (1) proficiency in using spread sheet computer software demonstrated either by examination or an appropriate course, (2) completion of FIRE 431 Advanced Real Estate Appraisal or its equivalent, and (3) minimum of 2.7 grade point average at the undergraduate level. A minimum of five years of business experience is preferred.

Curriculum

In order to be eligible for graduation with the certificate, a student must maintain an overall grade point average of 3.0. Eighteen credit hours beyond a bachelor's degree is required for completion of this graduate certificate program. A maximum of one three-hour course taken at another AACSB- the International Education Association for Management Education institution may be transferred into this program. Students interested in later applying for admission into either the Master of Business Administration with concentration in Real Estate and Urban Land Development or the Master of Science in Business with concentration in Real Estate Valuation must do so through a separate application process. Admission to a master's program is dependent on the applicant having achieved a 3.0 grade point average in the graduate certificate and achieved a satisfactory score on the GMAT examination.
