MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Department of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate
is to deliver knowledge to students in the School's undergraduate,
graduate, and professional programs. The Department also contributes
to the expansion of knowledge by engaging in scholarly activity.
Scholarly activity is essential to the delivery of knowledge due
to the rapid changes in the disciplines of finance, insurance and
real estate. The Department is active in all the School's degree
programs, offering core courses as well as majors, minors, and concentrations.
In addition, the Department has developed and delivers courses in
continuing professional education for practitioners seeking to upgrade
their skills and/or attempting to achieve professional certification.
Core courses are intended to impart sufficient knowledge of financial
management, insurance or real estate for any graduate School of
Business program. The major or concentration is intended for those
who plan to pursue a career in finance, insurance or real estate
and/or intend to pursue further study in those areas. In addition,
faculty are expected to provide academic and professional service
to the University and external communities.
