UNAPPROVED MINUTES MEMBERS PRESENT: Ed Coffman (chair), George Canavos, Tracy Green, Allen Lee, Kweku-Muata Osei-Bryson, Carol Lehr, and Deb Cowles. Also present: Gurpreet Dhillon and Peter Aiken. Meeting called to order 1:15 p.m. 1. Minutes of the February 12, 2004, meeting were reviewed. A motion was made to change the wording of paragraph 3. After a discussion, the committee voted to keep the paragraph unchanged. 2. The committee reviewed an appeal by Ph.D. student Gurvirender Tejay to change from “W” (withdrawl from the course) to a retroactive withdrawal so that “W” would not appear on the student’s transcript. The appeal was denied. 3. After a review of materials submitted by faculty members, the committee voted to extend “700-level designation” for the following faculty to the dates indicated: Carol Lehr (2005), Larry Williams (2008), Dave Harless (2008), Allen Lee (2008), Peter Aiken (2004) and Neil Murphy (2006). 4. 5. Ed Coffman briefly discussed progress on Learning Goals and Measures for the Ph.D. Program. Allen Lee announced that he had called a meeting for Tuesday, April 9, 3 p.m., Room 5150, inviting all faculty members who teach Ph.D. classes to review the draft learning goals and measures, and to provide input into the on-going process. 6. The committee reviewed descriptions of Ph.D. minors (all 8 minors requiring 12 hours [four 3-credit courses]; 6 minors requiring comprehensive exams and 2 minors not requiring comprehensive exams). The committee asked Tracy Green to make these descriptions available to students immediately, and agreed to take up at a later date any inconsistencies between minor offerings. Specifically, the committee agreed to table a motion to require all Ph.D. minors in the School of Business to require a comprehensive exam. 7. The committee voted to approve a change in the Business Foundation Course Requirements for the Doctoral Program in Information Systems (as described in the Graduate Bulletin). The changes will provide more flexibility with regard to foundation courses required of Ph.D. students in Information Systems. The proposal will be submitted to the University Graduate Studies Committee for approval. 8. The
