Ph.D. Program Committee
a. Statement of Purpose and Responsibilities:
The purpose of the Ph.D Committee is to ensure the integrity
and quality of the Ph.D. in Business. The Committee will:
Establish eligibility criteria for faculty chairing dissertation
and teaching 700 level courses;
Review and render decisions on applications for eligibility
for chairing dissertations and teaching 700 level courses;
Review and render decisions on proposed Ph.D. curriculum
and 700-level requests;
Review and render decisions on academic policies and procedures
of the doctoral program;
Review and render decisions on the admissions criteria and
decisions for admission to the Ph.D. in Business;
Review and render decisions on proposals for Ph.D dissertation
committee members;
Conduct a comprehensive review of the Ph.D. in Business
programs at least every five years; this evaluation should
include, but not be limited to, a review of doctoral degree
programs in Business of peer institutions;
Review and render decisions on appeals related to the Ph.D
in Business; and
Review and render decisions on other issues related to the
doctoral program that are brought before the Committee.
If budgetary, personnel, or other curricular or non-curricular reasons present
barriers or problems in adopting the recommendations of the Committee, the
Dean shall discuss these reasons with the Committee.
