Master of Accountancy /Accounting 150-Hour Professional
Program
Students have the opportunity to earn BS and MAcc degrees with
the completion of the program in Accounting. It is an integrated
program consisting of 120 hours of undergraduate credits and 30
hours of graduate credits.
Students declare their major at the end of the sophomore year.
They enter the 150-Hour program at the beginning of the junior
year and earn both degrees with a major in accounting and a concentration
in information systems, finance and auditing or other areas of business.
The requirement of a minimum of 30 graduate credits consists of
ten courses, at least five of which may be electives outside of
accounting. This gives students the flexibility to design a broad
program, which supports and enhances their individual career objectives. There are
three tracks in the program, (1) finance and auditing, (2) information
systems, and (3) general business, which includes any combination
of five graduate courses from any of the following disciplines; management,
economics, international business or marketing for areas of concentration.
Note: The 150-hour requirement to sit for the CPA Exam took effect in Virginia in the year 2006.
