120-Hour Accounting: Industry / Government
Program
Virginia Commonwealth University's Accounting Programs are AACSB
accredited at the undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. levels.
Accounting is often referred to as "the language of business."
It helps the student learn how individuals, businesses, governments,
charitable organizations and other groups interact and relate to
the problem of the efficient allocation of scarce resources in a
free-market economy. Accounting provides a solid foundation for
a career in business, irrespective of whether the student desires
to enter the public practice of accounting, serve as a financial
executive in industry or government, or start and operate a business.
The Department offers:
o a Bachelors degree,
o a
Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting,
o Master
of Tax,
o Master
of Accountancy with a Concentration in information
systems, finance
and auditing, or other
selected area of business, and
o an accounting
track in the Ph.D. degree program
Each student majoring in accounting is assigned a departmental
faculty advisor who assists students individually in planning their
programs. The Department, in conjunction with other university offices,
assists in career counseling, job placement, and the selection of
a graduate program.
